Angular v21 was release in november 2025 - 6 months ago at the time of writing this, however Ionic does not support it yet. Angular v22 is expected to release in a few weeks. In my opinion, keeping up with Angular releases is the most important feature of a library building on top of it. All users of Ionic are blocked from the latest features, bug fixes and security patches in Angular v21 and soon v22, because of this. Angular v20 is ending its Long Term Support in november 2026, and Ionic is blocking users from updating. As a user I would expect Ionic to actively work on support during the Release Candidate phase of Angular, and release shortly after (within days or a few weeks). I work on a large Angular/Ionic project with 10s of thousands of Typescript files. Updating Angular versions takes a long time, and Ionic is currently reducing the window we have to update before the LTS ends. We are considering moving away from Ionic, just to remove this risk.

I would like the team to explore more ways to push the performance of the apps so they can compete with native when it comes to native like speed, sliding animations, and more

iOS 26 introduces a major visual redesign with the “Liquid Glass” design language — translucent materials, updated navigation bars, tab bars, and new system-wide styling. Ionic should provide first-class support for these new iOS 26 visual changes so that Ionic apps feel native on devices running iOS 26+. This would include updated styles for ion-header, ion-tab-bar, ion-modal, ion-action-sheet, and other components to match the new translucent/glass aesthetic. Ideally with automatic adaptation based on the iOS version, similar to how Ionic has historically matched iOS design updates. This is critical for hybrid apps to maintain a native look and feel as users upgrade to iOS 26.

I'm long enough in OSS to know how hard it is to keep a issue backlog clean. I have seen your effort to close old issues and start fresh. But simple issue with simple PR done my member like me are still never review commented or closed. On Capgo repo i have 120 plugins, i use AI to Review and prepare it for me to be able to take action, i saw you started using it too it's great but it need to continue in that direction please dont stop mid way

There's a great discussion at https://github.com/ionic-team/ionic-framework/issues/28574#issuecomment-1833977900 about how to make Ionic Angular faster through code splitting. Where modularity is a big focus for Ionic 9, is there an opportunity to revisit code splitting for lighter bundle sizes and better web vitals?

There are several platforms that allow to create and build Cordova or Capacitor apps using the Ionic framework directly in the browser, such as Appery or Thunkable. It would be great if OutSystems offered something similar, as it would dramatically reduce the development gap.
